Shirley Irene Crossley Embleton, 91, of West Pittston and formerly of Wormleysburg, PA passed away Sunday January 10th at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore PA.
Born October 16, 1929, in Wormleysburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Irene Crossley (Danner) of Camp Hill PA. Shirley is preceded in death by her husband Arnold W. Embleton, parents Harry and Irene (Danner) Crossley and brothers Richard and Robert Crossley.
She was a 1945 graduate of Forty-Fort High school. Prior to her retirement to be a carrying mother she was employed at Bell Telephone in Wilkes Barre PA.
Shirley enjoyed vacationing in her favorite spot, Lancaster PA. She enjoyed playing cards, scrabble, crossword puzzles, reading, baking, cracking jokes and making people laugh. She loved spending time with her family. She loved traveling and vacationing to the new places and the old. She loved the fall; it was her favorite time of the year. She would love to go out for car rides look at the beautiful mountains and colors.
Shirley was a recent resident of Highland Manor Rehab and Nursing Center. They described her as a tough, a fun jokester and a person with a heart of gold who would put a smile on her their face.
She is survived by her Daughter Debbie Colleran and husband Mike and primary caregivers of West Pittston, daughter, Shirene Biga; Pittston, sons; Robert Naugle and wife Dianne Naugle; Exeter, William Naugle and wife Sandy; Duryea. Sister Judith Nordstrom and brother David Crossley and wife Marilyn of Mechanicsburg and sister-in-law June Crossley; Camp Hill PA; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, over 20 nieces and nephews and cousins. Not to include those who called her gram from her extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1pm in the Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home Inc 504 Wyoming Avenue Wyoming with the Rev. Wanda Beasley officiating.
Interment will be in the Mountain View Burial Park, Exeter Twp.
Friends may call Wednesday 11-1pm in the funeral home.
