Ruth B. Spess

Ruth B. Spess, 85, of Exeter, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, in Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre.

She was born in W. Wyoming, daughter of the late Howard and Rena Mae (Eyet) Posten.

She was educated in W. Wyoming schools. She was a homemaker and enjoyed attending church and cheering for the Steelers.

In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her beloved husband Frank Spess, and children, Frank and James Spess. Siblings, Howard Posten, Elmer Posten, Gladys Jones, Shirley Dezinski, Beverly Haas, Althea Brockway, Edith Jackson, and Eleanor Posten.

Ruth is survived by her children, Rita Schaffer of Exeter, Andrew Spess of Nanticoke, Barbara (Bob) Jones of Exeter, Michael Spess of Pittston, Teresa (Tim) Fender of Plymouth, and Janice Margavage of Wyoming, several nieces and nephews

The family would like to thank Dr. D'Andrea and the staff for their kindness and compassion caring for our mom.

The Funeral Service for Ruth will be held Friday, March 20, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home, Inc. 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming with the Rev. Carol Coleman of the Wyoming United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment will follow at the Wyoming Cemetery, Wyoming.
