Leon Obrzut, 80, of Hillsborough Twp., NJ, and formerly of West Pittston, died Feb. 25 at his home.
Born in Lewisburg, he was the son of the late Edward and Alice (Kurzyniec) Obrzut. He was a 1960 graduate of West Pittston High School, where he excelled in basketball and also played football. He continued his basketball career at Wilkes University, where he graduated in 1965 with a bachelor’s degree in English.
After college, he joined the U.S. Army where he served overseas in the Vietnam War. When he returned, he spent many years as a computer programmer before retiring.
He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies and enjoyed tending to his garden.
He survived by his brother, Thomas Obrzut Sr., Forty Fort and his companion Sandra Touw, Dallas; nephews, Thomas Obrzut Jr. and Mark Obrzut, both of West Pittston; cousins
