Josephine A. Parente

Josephine A. (Ferraro) Parente 90, of Swoyersville, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2025, in Highland Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Exeter.

Josephine was born in Swoyersville, to the late Michael and Jennie Zachary Ferraro.

She graduated from Wyoming Seminary Upper School in 1952 and went on to attend College Misericordia. She held various jobs at her family's businesses until she started her most rewarding career as a homemaker and mother.

She was always very loving and caring to her family and friends. Her door was always open to anyone who needed anything. She loved to cook and there was always room for everyone who wanted to join the family for a meal or party. She loved to create elaborate meals with her husband, cooking all kinds of traditional Italian foods with recipes passed down through generations from both Ferraro and Parente relatives. Josephine supported and encouraged her children through every aspect of their lives.

Her commitment and dedication to her family intensified when her grandchildren began to arrive. The love she had for her grandchildren knew no bounds. They were the lights of her life.

In addition to her parents, Josephine is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Alexander Parente, brothers, Lorenzo and Samuel Ferraro, brother-in-law John Parente, and sister-in-law Joan Baldino.

Josephine is survived by daughters, Lisa (Teresa Campbell) Parente, of Swoyersville; Michele (Thomas Bell) Kuhar, of Forty Fort; son, Alan (Amy) Parente, of Arlington, VA; grandchildren, Alisa Kuhar, and Xander and Zach Parente. She will be missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Josephine's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Highland Manor for their kind, compassionate, and loving care, which was extended to the whole family.

Goodbyes are not forever-nor are they the end. They simply mean we'll miss you, until we meet again. Forever in our hearts.

A Blessing will be held for Josephine on Thursday, April 24, 2025, 6:30 PM at Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home, Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, Pastor Dan Shission, celebrant.

Relatives and friends are invited for visitation on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 4:00 PM until the time of service at Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home, Inc.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Josephine and Alexander on Friday, April 25, 2025, 10AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church of St. Barbaras Parish, 28 Memorial St., Exeter, Msgr. John Sempa, celebrant.

Interment follows mass at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton, PA.
