John P “Johnny” Randazzo 78, of West Wyoming, Pennsylvania, passed away on Veteran’s Day Tuesday, November 11, 2025 alongside his family.
John was born in Kingston, to the late John S and Genevieve Jackson Randazzo. John graduated from West Wyoming High School in 1965 and went on to Wilkes Barre Business College. He enlisted in the US Army, Pa National Guard and spent 8 years serving our country.
His career began in Hydraulic sales for Die-Matic and continued with Luzerne County Road and Bridge where he worked until his retirement.
John was very active in community sports, including West Wyoming Little League, West Wyoming Junior Warriors, Wyoming Area Wrestling Booster Club, Back Mountain Area Wrestling, and also belonged to the Senior Golf League at Emanon Country Club. John was proud of his alma mater and planned West Wyoming class reunions.
John served as an altar server at Our Lady of Sorrows church for 9 years. He also served on the West Wyoming Council. John was an avid sports fan, golfer, story-teller and biker. He had such wit and loved to share jokes.
John looked forward to gatherings with family and friends. That included their Monday night family dinners, North Carolina vacations, weekend afternoons at the lake, nights at the Grotto in Wilkes Barre with his buddies, and lunch-ins with his very dear friends the “West Wyoming Cowboys”.
John was loved by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his sister, Shirley VanTassel.
John is survived by his high school sweetheart and love of his life of 57 years, Diane Maira Randazzo (Dee), children, Jeff Randazzo (Kathy) of Louisa County, VA; Danielle Alder (Bill) of West Wyoming; Jason Randazzo of West Wyoming; and Rebecca Boyle of Wyoming; sisters, Carol Rambo of SC; and Judy Waligorski of SC. He will be missed by all his friends and family, especially by his grandchildren who meant the world to him: Justin Randazzo, Roman Alder, Ava Boyle and Tyler Randazzo. To his grandkids he was known as “Big Pop.” Also surviving are many nieces and nephews who adored “Da-Unk”, and Darcie who was like a daughter to him.
Funeral Service will be from the Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home, Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 15, 2025, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:30 AM at St. Monica's Parish, 363 W Eighth St., W Wyoming, Fr. Peter Tomczak, officiant.
Relatives and friends may call, Friday, November 14, from 5-8 PM at Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home, Inc. 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.
