Harry James Traver

Harry James Traver, age 80, from Monroe Township; went to be with his Lord on June 26th while at home.

He was born in Noxen on July 15th, 1944, and grew up on a small family farm. He graduated from Tunkhannock High School in 1962. Harry married his high-school sweetheart, Dawn Goble in August of 1964.

Harry was one of the 1st 10 people hired at Proctor and Gamble, Mehoopany in 1966. He was employed there until 1998 when he decided to leave. He also worked at Hillside Farms enjoying the farming life and being outdoors.

He enjoyed reading historical facts and stories, doing crossword puzzles, and solving sudoku.

As an avid Hunter, he was a member of the NWTF, believed in conservation and enjoyed spending time outdoors. He loved being at home, on the farm, and especially time with his family.

He coached baseball and softball while his children played sports. He looked forward to and volunteered for many years at the Noxen Rattlesnake Round up. In addition, he was in the USPS auxiliary (supporting his wife), on the zoning committee board for Monroe Township, and was a member of the Noxen United Methodist Church.

Harry had a plethora of useless trivia, Dad jokes and was a fantastic embellishing story teller, not only to the grandchildren; but to anyone who wanted to listen.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester "Jack" and Nina (Blizzard) Traver; his brother, Hiram Traver; and his sisters: infant Nina, Ada Shefler, Gypsy Hanadel, Nettie Ladner, and Leona Cook.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dawn (Goble) Traver; his brothers, Sylvester "Jack" Traver and wife Linda, and Steve Traver and wife Diane; his sister, Jane Scott and husband Gene; his son, Seth Traver and wife Tammy; and his daughters, Lori Geiger and Wendy Ide (partner Brian). He also leaves behind his grandchildren: James Solomon, Arielle Rail (Jordan), Jacklyn Hettes (Steve), Kalee Fassett (Collin), Aaron Ide, and Melody Traver (partner Cahil); as well as six great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family from the Nulton Kopcza Funeral Home 5749 SR 309 Beaumont, Monroe Twp.

Interment will be in the Orcutt Grove Cemetery, Noxen.
