Frank Edward Crispell, 78, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, after a courageous year-long journey with cancer.
Born on September 13, 1947, in Kingston, Pennsylvania, Ed—affectionately known as “Eddie”—was the beloved son and last surviving child of the late Earl Sr. and Helen (Traver) Crispell of Noxen, Pennsylvania.
Ed was quick with a joke, sharp with his wit, and always ready with story #76—often punctuated with his playful warning “there will be a quiz on this.” An inquisitive adventurer, he shared countless tales that ranged of his family’s history, his childhood in Noxen, his years working alongside his father at Crispell & Son Texaco, and his time processing fish in Alaska. His stories, always delivered with enthusiasm and humor, reflected his love for life, his family, and the places he called home.
For more than 18 years, Ed and his wife, Grace, traveled the country as volunteers in state and national parks. Together, they embraced new adventures everywhere they went—from fisheries in South Dakota to the sunny shores of Florida, the condors of California to the awe-inspiring volcanoes of Hawaii. Wherever they landed, Ed immersed himself in the history and culture of the community, always eager to learn and share what he discovered, leaving behind cherished memories and friendships.
Ed is survived by his devoted wife of 19 years, Grace Evelyn (Betts), and his children: Teresa Crispell (Lynn Knight), Karen Crispell (Charlie Rodriguez), Meridith (Dane Favia), Marisa Crispell, Michael (Bridget Crispell), and step-son: Jamie (Katie Smith). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Additionally, Ed leaves behind his nieces Deborah Whitley, Cindy DeBroux, and Michelle Nummerdor, and nephew Jeffrey Crispell. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Earl Crispell Jr., Elvin Crispell, and Eileen Bean.
A celebration of Ed’s life will be held on Saturday, November 8th, 11 am at Nulton Kopcza Funeral Home, 5749 SR 309, Monroe Twp. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather, share stories, and honor the laughter and love he brought into the world.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Schenck Memorial Library in Noxen, Pennsylvania, in recognition of Ed’s lifelong love of books, learning, and his deep pride in his hometown.
