Frank C. Prokop, 91, of Wyoming, passed away Sunday, February 20, at Allied Skilled Nursing Center, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Pittston, son of the late Thomas Prokop and Anna (Cuba) Prokop. Frank enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean War in the Infantry. He received two purple hearts for his bravery. After his service his employment included Owens Illinois, Nelson’s Furniture in Kingston, and Sunshine supermarket. Frank was a member of the Purple Heart Organization, Holy Name Society of St. John the Baptist Church, St. John’s bowling league, Owen Illinois Union and Stress Steal Worker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marion Kolesar Prokop, brothers, Alex Prokop, Thomas Prokop, Henry Prokop, Joseph Prokop, John (Patty) Prokop, sisters, Helen (Prokop)Young, Frances (Prokop) Kostik, Caroline (Prokop) Bollock, and Louise Prokop.

Surviving are his children; Stephen Prokop and wife Debbie of Glen Lyon, Diane Cates of Lawton, OK, sisters; Betty (Blanche Prokop) Groft of McSherrys Town, PA, and Pauline (Prokop) Yankay of Pittston Betty Prokop of York, Pa and grandson Stephen.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Friday, February 25, at 10am in St. Anthony’s Church (of St. Barbara’s Parish), 224 Memorial Ave., Exeter. Father Michael E. Finn celebrant.

Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. John’s Slovak Cemetery, Exeter.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675
