Julius “Chick” Kozak

Julius “Chick” Kozak, 81, of Lehman, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre.

Julius Kozak was born on August 19, 1942, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, to the late Julius and Ellen (Hargraves) Kozak.
He graduated from high school and began his career as a Sign erector for Fiesler until his retirement. He also enjoyed a part time job at Weiss Markets.

Julius was best known for his skillful wood carving. He took pleasure in carving and gifting his creations. He even carved his own urn. “Chick” was a leukemia warrior, he made more than friends at the Henry Cancer Center, the nursing staff were more like family. He crafted a variety of ribbons for the patients at the cancer center. He was a selfless person. He spent his free time volunteering with the Lehman Twp fire police, taught Sunday School at the Shavertown United Methodist Church for over 10 years and was a boy scout leader. Chick was an avid fisherman, he loved to fish for all kinds of fish, but his favorite catch were the largemouth bass.

Julius is survived by his beloved wife, Marion (Olenick) Kozak. The couple were married for 55 years. Also surviving are children Jennifer Dumond (Lenny) of Shamokin, and Seth Kozak (Cinnamon) of Florida; and Sister Ellen Buonemani (Frank) of Florida.

The Blessing Service for Julius will be held on Friday, October 20, 6 PM at Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home, Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.

Family and friends may call on Friday, October 20 from 4-6PM.
